Motorola Shadow

Image of unreleased Motorola ShadowI realize that we are still a few weeks out from the Nexus One hitting Verizon, but I’m ready to move on already. Everything I have read about it indicates that it is an incremental step up at best from the Droid and Engadget went to far as to say, “It’s (the Nexus One) a good Android phone, but not the last word — in fact, if we had to choose between this phone or the Droid right now, we would lean towards the latter.”

So I say we move on to the next big thing and my sources indicate that will be the Motorola Shadow. This may finally be the Android device to match the HD2 screenwise.

Specs:
*9mm-thick handset with 1080p video recording and an HDMI output.
*4.3″ Screen with 850 x 484 resolution
*8-megapixel camera
*Android OS

The 1080p recording and HDMI output might possibly indicate that this will be running on one of the follow-ups to the current Snapdragon processor, I would assume that since testers have this device in hand already that it will be released in June or July and that we are probably talking about the 1.3 GHz Snapdragon 8X50A and not the dual-core Snapdragon 8X72 with twin 1.5GHz Scorpion cores. Although the fact that a dual-core with that kind of power will be available before the year is out seems insane and might just keep me from upgrading too soon.

At 4.3 to 4.5 inches we are encroaching the maximum size for a pocketable smartphone, but personally I think that it is still within the realm of what is reasonable and usable for a phone. What about you, is the added screen real estate and power worth it to you for a slight sacrifice in ease of portability?
